We are looking for an online course that we can ideally use behind our firewall that covers basic computer skills. Browser-based that does not use a lot of bandwidth. Really basic concepts. Like how a mouse works, how to close a window, etc.
Anyone know of any vendors? |

My curiosity is piqued. How would paricipants complete this type of course online, if they don't know how to use a mouse and navigate the basics?

Yes, it is a bit of a Catch-22 situation. Usually, someone sets them up at the computer at the beginning of the course with an introduction to the next button and then is there to answer any questions. In other cases, we have a printed job aid to get them to the course and phone help is available.

On of my favorites for basic computer skills is on the Palm Beach library's website (URL below). It's easy, not graphic intensive and is web-based. I've had lots of success with it, although I don't recommend it if your learners are ESL. They also have some fun games to practice using the mouse. I think it was developed for libraries, I've come across several that use it.
