We are a small but growing management consulting and training company. We have always done all training on-site. We want to move into the world of ELearning by offering some follow-up activities for all of our on-site offerings. These would be on-demand course reviews / summaries, assessments etc. I am feeling overwhelmed with software choices. Can anyone explain the differences between Camtasia and Adobe's Connect Pro?

Camtasia is screen capturing and recording tool. While Adobe connect is online tool for screen sharing and online demos and meetings.

Hi, we use those tools for the following purposes:
1. Camtasia and Captivate are great tools if you have systems training. They will record simulations that show users how to use software or perform a process. 2. We use Adobe Connect Pro to setup virtual meetings and show demos of training courses we have created. Think of it as virtual Instructor Led Training. Are you looking for basic activities (games, quizzes, etc.) or a training course the users must complete to receive credit? Hope this help! Dan Longhouse The LHT Group |

Connect Pro gives many more options for "webcasting" and screen presentation (captured). An excellent tool, but if you don't need all the features, many lower-cost alternatives (for both webcasting and screen presentation) exist.
Same with Camstasia/Captivate - great screen capture/presentation tools, but depending on your needs, there may be cheaper alternatives. David Glow dglow@tampabay.rr.com |

If your training requires tracking, measurement, confirmation, and reporting, then Connect and Captivate are the best way to go. It is not cheap, but it works. We are using the two products for online safety and policy training for a large pipeline company.
