Hi Janelle, the two companies are very different. Learn.com is a fully hosted (On-Demand) LMS company which prides itself on easy to use, easy to implement, portal-based learning management, development tools, and easy to customize environment. Their focus is mid-market organizations.

Plateau, by contrast, is a global-enterprise-class solution which is designed with high degrees of flexibility and configurability for larger organizations.

Both companies are moving aggressively into performance and talent management, with Plateau a bit more advanced at this point. We have a lot of research in this area, so please consult with us or our website (www.bersin.com) if you'd like more information.

Thanks...

Hey back!

We also had a down-select from a wider number of vendors to Learn.com and Plateau back in 2006. A second "bake-off" resulted in our selection of Plateau.

Both vendors support user groups once you're a client.

Happy? Overall (folks who know me already know this), I'm a pretty "glass is 3/4's full" kind of guy, so I can't say that I am ready to throw in the towel. But that's because of the next question.

Implementation? We're in a 3-year implementation to reach the entire DHS Federal audience (~200,000).

Support? I co-chair the Government Plateau User's Group and am President of the Federal Government Distributed Learning Association so I am very active in partnering with any vendor towards reaching solutions.

Hidden "Oooops"? As Josh points out, are you looking for a hosted solution only, or do you have options? Have a clear expectation regarding Help Desk support and service level.

Feel free to contact to discuss further.

We've gone live with our LMS (Plateau) in the beginning of 2008. Yes there are a few kinks but overall it's going well.
