We're desperately trying to find an off-the-shelf software solution that allows us to import test questions from a database and publish to an LMS. Our current software, Ariculate, makes us copy and paste each question.
Currently, we have a project where we need to take 2,000 questions from an existing database, and convert them into a modern (preferably Flash) solution. This would then be published to our semi-proprietary SCORM conformant LMS. All questions would be formatted beforehand so that the software can easily convert and assume we can take the raw data and put it in any format (XLS, TXT, XML, CSV, etc). And this is only questions, no training content pages. Any suggestions?

Convert to XML and then load into Flash. Someone would have to build an interface for the Flash questions. If you want it in XLS format too, you could download from the database to CSV format, import into Excel, then set up a macro to format and export to XML. We can do all of this for you. We would start, though, by asking more about how you intend to use this little program, who will be using it, how did you get the data in the database, etc. These answers would be used to build a solution that is usable for the intended audience. For example, it may make more sense to create a one-click button solution within an Access database, for those who are not comfortable manipulating data or running macros in Excel.

Hi,
There are various approaches available to you
First option:
Your solution will depend on the database supporting your semi-proprietary SCORM conformant LMS. You can migrate the questions from one db to another with your db admins support.

Second option
If you want to use Articulate quizmaker, you could export out questions to a QTI format (which is an xml file)and then import to Articulate.

Third option
I have in the past used a homegrown excel spreadsheet to gather questions, with answers and feedback, and import to Articulate 5. I have yet to try this with Articulate quizmaker 09. What version of Articulate are you using?

We're using Quizmaker 9. The strange thing is this: I've called Articulate 3 different times, and I've been told repeatedly that we cannot import questions into their tool and that we'd have to copy and paste everything. Am I missing something? Or perhaps saying the wrong thing?

Hi, Quizmaker itself provicdes no direct functionality to import question into Quizmaker.
This link to Articulate forum thread may be of help to you --> http://www.articulate.com/foru...stions-database.html
