Hi everyone. I was recently employed as a Professional Development Manager - in simpler words, I am to help build and deliver all training for the company (the position is newly formed). My experience in the field involves working as a trainer and project manager for a company providing soft skills training, but this is the first time I work from "inside" so to speak. The vast majority of the employees are available for "classroom" training, and as such, I expect to build most of my material for direct delivery. The problem arises from the fact that there are also a handful of employees scattered around the world (around ten, some of them isolated) and some of the courses will need to be delivered to them as well. Therefore, I'm looking for a quick 101 in e-learning, and I would appreciate any hints or tips from you. So far, I found this site: http://derekstockley.com.au/eindex2b.html
All the employees are computer literate, and the courses will cover areas such as customer care, use of specific software, time management and the like.
Thanks in advance for any insight and have a nice day
With roughly only ten employees that are going view the content, you're really going to have to look into screen-capture and quick content creation tools.
For some of the software courses you may want to look into using Adobe Captivate, or even record a webex session.
The softskills training poses a little more of a challenge. Creating a custom title seems out of the question and would probably have a bad ROI. Maybe a tool like Wildform or something similar would work, and allow for quick turnaround.
Hello, As mark suggested, I think you'll find Captivate a good choice ($700). If you need something for free, that you can learn and then create training in, in the span of an hour, you might try Wink at http://www.debugmode.com/wink. It's free. Also the book e-learning by design by William Horton might help with the 101 in e-learning, as might titles by Saul Carliner. Good luck.
