Hi John,
Its interesting you mention Moodle as I am just about to look at it. I am doing a masters in eLearning at the moment so they do discuss it a lot. I am based in Ireland and a lot of the Universities here use it. I was told it was quite technical to administer but have not investigated what level of technical ability is required. Do you know does it gather assessment scores etc ? I wonder how much time is involved in configuring it? Thanks, Mary |

Moodle has the ability to gather assessment scores. You can do lots with assements and quizzes.
Moodle can be hard to administer depending on what you want to do. It can also be pretty easy. I am by no means an expert. There are lots of docs, videos and so forth. The community forums are a great source of help, too. --john |

Amy's solution may be a good way to go, with combination with a tool set.
That is also what we have done in our company. Since you have mentioned that: Evaluation and assessment is also very important, how the data is collected for review is important. You may like to have a look at this assessment tool: QuizCreator The good thing with this tool is that you do not have to set up a system to collect assessment data. You can just use E-mail reporting or add a very simple assessment reporting system on your server with sample documents. Here is a demo: http://www.sameshow.com/samples/UFO_Quiz/UFO_Quiz.html and the reporting system. http://www.sameshow.com/quiz_samples/php/index.php Senior E-Learning Expert |

Used Moodle, enterprise LMS systems, explored newer LMS systems like Absorb, as well as used Articulate, Captivate (and it's cheaper competitor products from Wondershare which also exports results to email and database).
Plenty of very good tools out there. Just want to offer that the biggest successes I see is when companies (or individuals) really scope needs concretely (current and future), and do a strict "shootout" of tools rated against this criteria. Really document what requirements you have, as well as the extended wish list (what you'd like to see, but can design around) and select tools that is the best fit. Also, if you really want robust assessments, I can say many tools are really closing the gap, but I think Questionmark is still a recognized leader in this space (and as a user, I am satisfied with the product- although I have seen i-qbox which seems to have equal capability).
