I work as a graphic designer for an educational department. We use Lectora to develop online courses, and primarily I create flash content and import them into Lectora. Soon we want to move to a more simulation based training. For example: Role playing different courses of action with the user and navigating them appropriately by their responses, track scores, etc. My actionscripting abilities are not up to doing this fully in Flash in a reasonable timeframe. However, there are several routes we can go, and I’d like some opinions.
We’ve discussed managing the navigation fully in Lectora, and this may work. Our course developers seem set on getting Raptivity to quickly create simulations, but I’m concerned the program is too straight forward, and lacks real customization. The lack of .fla export scares me, and I’d hate to waste money on such an expensive software and keep having to buy more components to meet our needs. I’ve checked out Captivate, and I think this would be a better fit for our needs at less cost (plus Flash compatibility). Is there better easy-to-learn software for creating simulations than Captivate? Or, can you think of a better solution? |

I have spent the last two years researching and evaluating authoring software. You will not find any other product that is as easy or as cheap as Captivate to do simulations. You can also incorporate Captivate content into Lectora and it works great!

My company has invested in Captivate. After reading the results of your 2 years of research, I am glad they did. Thanks. |

How about Wondershare DemoCreator? I just think Captivate is out of my budget. I'm reseaching and select a better one.
Hope somebody give me a suggestion, thanks! |

Captivate is a good investment because it can crreate flashy simulation at the same time let you import your custom graphics and power point slides for training. You can record or import audio for your training. If you are looking for creative and enganging simulation, captivate is perfect.
You can use captivate in Show me, Try me and also Test me simulations. I would say download the trial for 30 days and test it to see what you can do with this tool. Chet Sapovadia |
