I have received a lot of interest in Project Management training. We have determined that the most cost-effective way to provide PM training is through on-line training. I have a couple questions:
1. Are there any providers people recommend? 2. How do you measure the effect/impact? |

Stop. Rewind.
What specific things should project managers be doing in your organization to reach/address your organization's goals? What are they actually doing now? (and What specific things are they NOT doing that they should be doing?) What is the gap between what they ought to be doing and what they actually are doing, and what is causing that gap? (once you have the answer to that, this is how you can identify appropriate solutions and have a way to measure impact) You might find that none of your project managers know anything about project management -- that is the only case where a generic project management course might be appropriate. I cannot imagine that you have a workforce of project managers with no project management skills. Nor can I imagine that the most effective way to address their skill gaps would be through on-line training... unless you're looking at some type of robust syncronized online learning environment. |

Dear TPrewitt,
We have been working with an online training provider for about threee years. They have a wide-range of courses, excellent reporting, online mentoring, and extensive libraries for reference purposes. The website is mindleaders.com and a contact person is Jim McLeod 1 800 223 3732 ext 1687. Just tell them Louis from Ocala Florida recommended them. Thanks. Louis Louis A. I must agree with Fanatic Facilitator. The only reason to introduce project managment training is in response to a business issue.
Some potential issues (which in turn become measurements): Inability to complete projects on time Inclusion of wrong people on project team Scope creep etc. So, first, what's the problem? Once you have that, you can determine what data you would need to conduct an ROI |
