Hi there,
I'm working on a curriculum where the pre-test is only 20 questions. How do I know this is sufficient enough to test out of the curriculum. The post test is 30-45 minutes, but the pre-test is 20 minutes. The post test is also 50 questions. Any rules on how many questions there should be? And how do you know you cover enough of the content? |

A pre-test in which the results are used to validate completion of a curriculum should measure all of the objectives of the curriculum. You will know if the pre-test is sufficient once you validate that every performance objective is measured by the pre-test.
It is obvious that there is an imbalance between the pre-test and the post-test, which means that either the pre-test is not sufficient or the post-test is overkill. |

Our pre and post tests are the exact same questions only in a different order. Both take about 30 to complete.

Depends entirely on purpose and expectations. Is it purely knowledge that must be demonstrated?

Thanks for your input... Anything I have read so far suggests pre and post test is the same test, just rearranged. In this case, the pretest is shorter. The questions are mostly knowledge based.
