Hello,

I was wondering if there are any industry standard numbers for the following two measures:
- Development Cost per Class Hour
- Total Hours of Development vs. actual Hours of Training.

Thanks,

Jeanette

I wouldn't say these are industry standards but based on my experience, I'll offer that development cost per hour would depend on the medium in which the training will be presented and the skills of the development team.

It would cost more for experienced developers doing web training with a multi-media format than doing a classroom paper manual. Of course, even though experienced developers may cost more per hour, their experience may help them require fewer hours for the job.

When I estimate a development project, I use 5-8 hours/development for each hour of live training. Usually, that works well for me (nearly 30 years experience.)

I hope that helps.
