Does anyone know of companies that could scan roughly 15,000 paper-based level 1 surveys? I am looking to get the surveys scanned and get a report back on the results. I would want a breakdown of the results by course, and I would also want the free-handed comments captured. Obviously, I am aware that I would have to work with the company to design the form a certain way so that they can be scanned. If you know of a company that can do this, please respond. Thank you.

Why? The whole point of level one is that the instructional designer and trainer (learning facilitator) get *immediate*, subjective reactions from learners and make adjustments when/if appropriate.

Barry

It has been years since I've used it, but Scantron is a big name in form design/scan.

In googling try the following sites:

http://www.datablocks.com/
http://www.pearsonncs.com/wedo/index.htm
http://www.principiaproducts.com/info/productsfaq.html

Most want to sell you the software and hardware to do it yourself. If you find the right person, they'll hook you up with consultants/companies that will do ad hoc form creation and scanning. Don't have the name anymore, but I used a company in Texas. Also try a local university, some, in addition to supporting faculty, will perform the function for businesses.

Good luck

Karin

Point being, Barry -- I recommend that you don't waste your resources on this task.

"There is little correlation between how trainees feel about a program and what they ahve learned - or more importantly what they will do on the job because of it. The data collected by questionnaires cannot be validated." - Herman Beirnbrauer, "Evaluation Techniques that Work", from Another Look at Evaluating Training Programs - an ASTD book compiled by Kirkpatrick

Laura - there can be many reasons for this and I'm not speaking for Barry but I had to do this not to long ago as a CYA function.

We were contracted to deliver training and we collected data to prove we lived up to our end of the contract and that the was "satisfactorily" received.

Barry - wish I could help - only folks I know of that do this electronically are scantron and i used them when I was working at a University. We did it manually. There is software available (e.g. Perseus - I have no experience with it yet but my new employer uses this software) that will collate this kind of data if you have respondants enter their surveys electronically.
