Ian,

At my previous employer, we did alot of work with T-Mobile and with SBC - both of which launched pilot training programs to a subset of their call center operation and developed true before/after performance (revenue and customer sat) measures.

It's not my place to give you any contact names or numbers, but if you are that interested, it is enough information for you to get started.

I recently prepared a course for a conference with the title of "Proving ROI for Your Corporate University". The session was to cover 3 hours of classroom time and includes a comprehensive overview of everything from Alignment, Financial Analysis, Identifying & Interviewing Stakeholders, Determining Metrics and Measures, and creating a Live Dashboard that will feed you ROI data.

The focus of the workshop is on determining what the "R" in ROI will be, specific to your organization, and how to quantify return with trackable information - and finally, how to present the data back to stakeholders.

Although the workshop participant guide was built for a facilitated environment I'm also turning the whole course into a webinar-ready package. It's equal parts Kirkpatrick, Phillips, Bartram, and a wee bit of my own thoughts and experience thrown in for good measure.

Anyone interested can contact me and I'll be glad to provide a webinar info sheet, or just answer any questions that are in my wheelhouse.

Hi "Steady"!

It may be useful to other readers as well as me if you could give just a few lines on Bartram's position on ROI and evaluation. For me this will help me decide whether to invest in her book (I'm assuming it's Sharon Bartram you refer to?)

Many thanks,

Warm regards,

Martin

A ROI course in 3 hours with the subjects you intend to cover??? Starting from nothing I would have a long chat with my high placed friends in finance and accounting. Then think about the most appropriate approach that will assist my organization to get where it wants to go.
Think first of approach not techniques

In a recent ASTD survey, most CEOs interviewed were not concerned with training's ROI. CLOs however were concerned. I found that very interesting. ROI is a obsession with the training industry - not with organizations per se. Most organizations don't care about it. They just want good training. If the training is good, the ROI is obvious. It's just that simple. If the training is not good, then no amount of data will convince them otherwise.
