A couple more revenue generators... you could also:

1) start a certification program (using Microsoft, or Cisco as models)

2) create end user video cds or dvds (using video professor as a model).

Learngeek -- one of the best things you can do is investigate your competitors and similar businesses to see what they do to market and sell their training. One of the first rules of marketing is to know your competition. It's research time.

I love the certification idea!

Another idea to consider is to charge your customers a monthly fee to have unlimited access to interactive self-paced eLearning. If the training is really engaging and has instant performance support, then your customers will pay for your training!

Just think - Let's say you charge $199.00/mo. for unlimited access, which includes all product updates, etc. and the customers could share the training with all their employees, and you have 200 customers that sign up, then that would bring you revenue of $40K/mo.!!!

Feel free to send me a PM as I am learning a lot about generating revenue through eLearning and product information.

Cheers!

I think the topic is also valid for internal company training depts e.g. how as a service provider to other departments can you become a profit centre department, instead of just a cost centre department.

One of the billable "services" you might provide to other depts. attending the same training is ensuring any 3rd party provider invoice works out cost-effectively. Sure it may only be a few cents you're billing, but it adds up, and with the extra cash you can buy new training equipment, software etc...

E.g. ensure you get at least break-even point classroom attendance for the frequency of classes run, splitting down a single invoice to multiple heads in multiple departments for them to contribute costs to the final 3rd party provider invoice.

"Training Revenue Generating " does Accounting or Finance need to even think in these terms?
