While perhaps not a scientific evaluation it is useful to imagine there are two cultures in each country with an emerging economy. One is the "legacy" culture which is driven by traditional historic forces (see Hofstede) -- family, power distance, etc. The other is what I think of as a universal, global culture that is driven in essentially the same way everywhere now: consumerism, upward mobility, and so on. These value systems influence the learning styles, and accross each you get a normal distribution of various kinds of "learning styles."
