Good Afternoon,
Has any one found a good way or resource to handle training employees to adhere to a business dress requirement? Does a video or handout do the job?
Thanks.

Hi Civet --
I recently wrote a paper titled "Dressing Up the Dress Code" which addresses this very topic. Let me know if you would like me to send it to you. I can be reached at jkevinballard@aol.com.

Cheers,
Kevin

The employee handbook that everyone receives on his/her first day contains all of the company policies. If you're not dressed correctly, they send you home to change. No kidding.

Dressing appropriately for work is usually not a matter of lack of knowledge, it's more a matter of people in charge setting an example and holding people accountable for it. These are adults, right?

Thanks for your input.
It seems that just reading the handbook isn't enough. That's why I was asking for helps or videos.
And, yes, they are adults but most are right out of high school, and many of their ideas of business dress aren't in lne with handbook. Again, the handbook alone just isn't doing it. Any suggestions you have on a training for business dress would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not trying to be a pain, but maybe the descriptions therein are not descriptive enough? How about including some pictures of your well-dressed employees? Also -- as I mentioned earlier -- are they getting specific immediate feedback from their managers about what is inappropriate about how they are dressed? Are they being held immediately accountable? Are their managers dressing appropriately?

There's a point at which I think it's ridiculous to have to baby people. Here are the guidelines. Here are a couple examples. If you have any questions, ask your manager.
