I am looking for a video that can be used in a Quality Awareness training program that really hits home the importance of quality.

We manufacture jet engine blade parts and I want a video that shows how lack of quality awareness had damaging effects. Our organization has been very successful in maintaining quality, but I'm looking for something to re-energize and keep quality in the front of their thinking.

Any thoughts? Suggestions?

Sail,

I would look to the Blue Angels (US Navy flight demonstration team) videos. I have used one that includes their preflight briefing, their precision maneuvers and unforgiving and incredible proximity of tons of metal and composite in the same piece of sky. No room for error, the ultimate quality endeavor. Their protocol of disciplined execution is one that will parallel closely the DMAIC business optimization model (I assume you are a six sigma culture, right?).

Plus you would be able to keep it in the "family" (the aviation family), so to speak.

Fair winds and semper fi,

Boom

Do you feel that they are losing interest in maintaining quality? Is there any reason to believe that employees do not already understand the importance of quality? I would be VERY careful about what you present (video or otherwise) if you present anything at all. Showing a video to a group of people who already care very much about the quality of their work and/or already know the importance of quality could be very patronizing.

Boom - did you use the video "The Blue Angels, in Pursuit of Excellence"? I tried to access the astdhw.boom-tv.com website, but was unsuccessful.

Always Learning - Thanks for the insight. I merely want to re-visit and re-energize the idea of quality. Obviously, making jet engine blade parts requires precision and quality....we sometimes even go beyond our customers specifications/tolerances. But the point of the video is just to re-energize individuals around the concept of quality. But good insight from you, I don't want it to appear patronizing.
