I am trying to design a facilitator and participant guide and I need help on how to incorporate a particular feature.

In guides I have seen in the past, many times there are wide margins on the outside of the pages with a line separating the content section and the notes or tip section (where the wide margins are). In this wide margin there are sometimes little tips to complement the material but typically it is blank space for notes. I can not figure out how to place this vertical line and make the wider margin flip from page to page so that when it is book form it is always on the outside edge of the page.

I have an example I have seen in a book if I didn't explain it clearly enough that I can email if you care to take a stab at helping me.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Before we can help you, we need to know what software are you using to create the guides.

I am using Microsoft Word. I also have access to Microsoft Publisher although I have not used it before.

Here is an example of what I have seen in a workbook.

I'll go ahead and reveal my ignorance here, as I'm no software wizard…Hey, sometimes even a "dumb idea" will give way to a better one!
1. I've just set my margins up to do that for certain documents, IF you don’t need printing there
2. Can the "gutter" feature do that in Word? Possibly you couldn’t print in that area though
3. Can you draw a table there?
3. Call your local tech school. There may be a sympathetic computer instructor there, or friend, or IS dept, Microsoft website, etc.
