I remember seeing some research on this topic but can't find it now. What is the best color to paint the walls of a training room - and why? Also, what general suggestions are there for posters/pictures on the walls Thanks in advance for your replies.
Look up anything about creating an inviting training environment. Have you googled today?
Color in our classroom is the biggest problem we have - no natural light and really bland walls...the color of which I cannot even describe (and they wont let us paint). It's like a dull grey/white...ugh. You can use anything bright and cheerful and definitely put posters on the walls - they can be relevant to the topic, artwork, things created by previous students... we have a mixture of all of those. We also went to a craft store and bought artificial plants and flowers and put them everywhere.
It helps when the room environment is nice and non-school-like. But, I also like seeing what happens when the students create posters as part of the class and put them up. There is a fine line betweem energizing the room and sending distracted student into overload. So, don't put up too much at once and let it build as the class progresses. Lucky you - you get to design your training space. Have fun!!

John, Here's a link that covers a lot of information (some of it maybe not applicable) about training room design--only a few general comments about wall color--Training Room Design. You may find in reading the archived discussion that some email addresses are active and message those folks directly. This link came from the Training Fundamentals Learning Community homepage Tools & Links feature
Sounds like fun--enjoy it!
