Hi there,
Could anyone help me with a short change management exercise to wrap up a lesson please. I'd be eternally grateful. Cheers, Wendy E. Email: resourceskills@gmail.com |

Wendy,
This one has been around a long time...but it always makes the point. I call it signing-up for change...it goes like this: 1. Have everyone sign their name three times on piece of paper. Or have a few do it on flip charts too. 2. Then ask everyone to do it again, but this time change hands. 3. Process the activity....talk about: ease of doing it the first time, using your preferred hand. (Notice it was quiet). difficulty doing it new way (notice noise, laughter) quality (poor) of signatures using new method how new way felt (awkward,frustrating...etc) All similar to what change "feels, looks and sounds" like. Point being...it will take a while, it will feel awkward at first...but after using new hand to write it will become just as comfortable as the dominant hand....and the old way will become uncomfortable.
