Do you know of any free leadership assessments? I need to find one today. It's for pre-work on a leadership/management 101 type of class. Looking for one that produces results like a bar graph to show areas of strength and improvement for basic leadership/mgt skills.

What specific competencies does your company value in a leader? What does your program specifically address? I'm curious about the benefits of using a generic assessment as I've not seen anything like that used with much success, so I'm looking forward to hearing about successful application of such a thing.
That said, why not start with a search? :-) http://lmgtfy.com/?q=free+leadership+assessment+tools Good luck and thanks in advance for returning later to share what you chose to use and how it went. |

Miss Anne,
If this is an introductory/informational learning activity the value of a pre-assessment is questionable. When you ask for feedback on behavior they need to be behaviors folks would have been expected to be using/modeling. Your time will be better spent by including time in the session to really explore the topical areas and provide space for participants to ask great questions. Use assessments later as a way to create a baseline from which further development maybe focused. You can create that type assessment by linking questions to the behaviors/practices, competencies expected (as mentioned by SSFN...above). Free on-line assessment tools (like Survey Monkey) may give you what you are after....but you still put the survey together. You would need to check in with them to see how they work in terms of comparing progress over-time, confidentiality, anonymity. Jeff |
