I would very much appreciate any insights from anyone with deep experience with these assessments....
As a part of our leader development program, we intend to do some up-front assessment--primarily of first-line managers. I'm inclined to use MBTI only, but am considering using FIRO-B in conjunction with MBTI. The CPP sample report of the combined instruments seems a little complicated. Have any of you had success using both instruments in combination? Thanks! Harry A. Griffith |

Harry,
Can't speak to utility of FIRO-B. MBTI is excellent resource for beginning a conversation about individual growth and development. I would never encorage its use as a sorting or selection tool. In fact, the feedback is a gift to the recipient. There is an abundance of MBTI related resources out there to help the individual put what they have learned to use. More than enough to keep a person busy for quite a while! Hello Harry:
A Total or Whole Person assessment, as recommended in "Testing and Assessment: an Employer's Guide to Good Practices" from the US Dept. of Labor, would be more useful and insightful. I can email the report if you wish. Bob Gately |
