Trust and Integrity are essential in successful organizations--particularly with respect to leadership, management, engagement, etc.
Have you ever participated in a training program or workshop devoted entirely to building trust and/or integrity? Do you believe one can actually "learn" trust and integrity? If so, how?
I think one can learn about that which builds trust and one can learn about the traits that make one trustworthy and the actions that give one integrity... but nobody can be trained in those things.
I do believe one can be trained in these things. Let's define training first. Training is defined in the Free Dictionary as "the process of bringing a person, etc., to an agreed standard of proficiency, etc., by practice and instruction." So if one can learn the traits and actions necessary, as SSFN says, then one can be trained-- even in something as tough as trust and integrity. What it takes is a skilled coach/trainer to provide feedback and guidance when the tough choices are being made. That's the real challenge... getting someone with enough courage to provide true feedback when someone is being percieved as untrustworthy or lacking integrity. Again, just like any tough skill, it takes work and constant feedback once you learn the thought process and actions necessary to show these skills. Have you looked into some books on the topic (i.e. Speed of Trust, etc)? May be a good place to start.

I just learned that Steven Covey's organization does indeed offer a training program about trust. If I understand correctly, it is based on his book, The Speed of Trust. I just ordered the book and am investing attendance at one of his programs. I don't really know much about it--in fact, the program may not be directly through Covey, but it is based on the book. Any experience with that?
