Hi,

I am researching various selection/assessments instruments that could be evaluated to assess prediction of performance (defined as production). This would be for a distribution environment where associates are required to maintain production standards. We currently use the Activity Vector Analysis (AVA) to select based on job-fit, but we find this is a predictor of retention, not production. As we move more toward a production environment, we need to incorporate an instrument that will provide some meanining in terms of whether the applicant will produce at an acceptable level.

If anyone is familiar with various instruments used to predict production for hourly associates in a production/manufacturing environment, I would certainly appreciate your knowledge/feedback. Obviously the assessment would need to be internally validated, I'm just looking at narrowing down what's out there and for something appropriate for distribution/manufacturing. Thanks for any help.

I am not familiar with an off the shelf tool to accomplish your aim. We have however, led several clients through a performance analysis process (using Performance DNA) focused on the Key Performers to determine the specific influencing factors from a capacity/selection perspective. This was then used to guide the creation specific selection criteria/assessments as well as to inform the use of existing intruments. In the end, production (performance) is specific to the unique environment of the organization and therefore is best served by first clearly quantifying it.

Hope this helps

Are you asking a instrument to predict productivity of an applicant when it appears that your organizational environment is undergoing a major change and threfore unsure of what that environment will look like.
Is it because you have encumbent management that is "vague" about what is productive ?

Thanks for the responses.

nero....while we are undergoing change, it does not really have a significant effect on the environment or work itself. Only one recent change has truly effected environment/work.

As for defining production, this is a distribution environment where production is defined as work output (a specific metric for each department - ie., # of lines picked per hour). Yes, I am looking for an instrument that would be predictive of production, defined as such. Thanks for any help.

I know of no instrument suitable to your task, if you discover one let us know. Do you really need one? Could it be possible the risks of using an instrument of this sort outweigh promised rewards? In the way of help, perhaps I've read too closely but you did say that your organization is moving toward a more production environment. Sometimes the consequences of change does not appear initially.
Productivity, ongoing or in new circumstances depends alot on the skill of the first line supervisors.
