I work for a company that is very big on forming teams. The only problem is that these teams never seem to get anywhere. In your experience, what do teams fail? Is it lack of leadership? Is it lack of direction?

What does your experience and research tell you? How about offer up what you think first? Make an assertion so there's somewhere to begin.

KLG,

What is the purpose of the teams? Are the teams fomred for short term projects or to work together for extended periods? This will help me determine what information to provide. Thanks and I look forward to continuing this thread.

The teams are formed to improve some type of process. When an employee identifies an area that needs to be improved, a team is put together to work on a solution. I've been on several teams but after the initial enthusiasm, we just don't seem to get anywhere. Eventually the team is disbanded.

Why do'nt they look at small targets with small teams and focus on achieving them first? It gives a much better picture of how they are progressing.
