Does anyone currently do talent assessment and planning as part of their workforce planning efforts? I am looking for information as to how it is being done, how is the information used and at what level, what are its components, etc. Is there any good training out there that would provide a good foundation for facilitating talent management as part of workforce planning?

How is workforce planning conducted in your company? Is talent management & planning included or a separate function?

Sometimes replies sound good in your head and then seem daft when posted. My reply to TMC1 fits this situation.

Why all the new fangled terms such as talent management when "managing and/or developing" staff can suffice.
