I'm confused, Bill -- you say you want to develop it internally but then you ask for documentation. "Strategic Thinking" is just the title of a course. What is the desired outcome? Who is the audience? Are these new leaders or experienced leaders? Combo? Are they leaders in title only, or do people really actually look up to them as leaders? Etc...

Agree with FF. However try: Give the group a business periodical tell them each to select 3 events, trends etc that will have strategic(define strategic in terms of time) influence over our department and what can we do or prepare for each.

I would start by finding out if your leaders can define strategic thinking - and go from there.

Bill, I can't help much with your specific request but can offer a resource that might be useful. This book is (my opinion) a classic...one I provided leaders well in advance of the actual planning dance. The section on Strategic Thinking provided not only a framework...but more importantly, cued us up for some powerful conversations. It is those facilitated conversations that allow adult learners to flow their own experiences and ideas into the mix. Great learning.....less teaching. Good luck.
