Simple Answer
Align with a great leader.
Have the great leader mentor the manager.

Definitely.

My question is:
Does the manager recognize the need for personal leadership development?

Colleagues, can leadership be taught or coached ??? it most certainly can be learned by the individual.

I agree that in order to be coached in leadership, you must have the natural talent and potential. Some people don't have the innate ability and therefore coaching will not provide desired results.

In this instance I'm taking a leap of faith that since the person is a manager, someone recognized leadership potential previously.
